Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never done pole before, where should I start?

Level I Pole is our most beginner class, this class teaches basic moves and introduces you to the pole. This class is required to take our other courses and will build the foundation for doing more advanced tricks. The class will focus on the basics such as moving with the pole, hand placement, poses and will offer and introduction to spins. Level I is offered as a session based class, and as casual drop in class. To view class times, please see our monthly session and casuals schedule.d

You can also choose to book a private pole party or private pole lesson with a group of your friends. Pole parties cover all the basics and get you familiar with the pole. See our Pole Parties page for more information about parties and how to book.

I would feel more comfortable in a class with people I know, can I schedule a private class with my friends?

You are always welcome to book a private pole class! Private classes typically include up to four people, so get your friends together and come out to give it a try. See our Parties page for more details. Please email us if you have any questions about booking a private class.

I haven’t been to the gym in a while, should I start working out before taking a pole class?

No need to hit the gym first! Pole fitness builds strength, endurance, flexibility and technique in every class. It’s a safe, fun and judgement free alternative to the gym.

Vertika also offers off the pole conditioning classes that can help supplement your pole classes such as Pole-ates and stretch. For all of our classes, check out our classes page.

What should I wear to class?

For our Level I class, you may wear leggings, but we suggest wearing shorts and a tank top or sports bra for all Level II and higher classes. You are welcome to bring your favourite pair of heels to all Pole Choreography classes.

For all off the pole classes, you may wear leggings, sweaters, leg warmers, or anything you are comfortable working out in. If you have any further questions regarding attire, please feel free to email us!

My schedule is all over the place and I don’t know how often or which classes I can attend. Which payment plan would you suggest?

Class packages are a great alternative to a session. You can use them whenever you would like and they are valid for up to 6 months from date of purchase, so you have plenty of time to fit pole into your busy schedule.

Sessions vs Casual Classes, what is the difference?

At Vertika we offer classes in two different streams, sessions and casuals. Session based classes run for a set period of time, 6-8 weeks for leveled pole sessions and 4 weeks for specialty sessions. Sessions run on the same day, at the same time the duration of the session. Each week builds upon the last and there is a set curriculum for each level. Sessions must be joined by week 2 of the session, there is a set fee for each session, class passes cannot be used towards a session.

Casual classes, or drop-in classes are our no commitment option. If you have too much going on to commit to a session, or you are new to pole and unsure what your style is yet, casuals are the way to go. Casual classes do not build upon the skills learned in the last week, each class is independent of the others. Casual classes can be joined at any time. Class passes and class drop in fees can be used towards casual classes only.

How do sessions work?

You will sign up for the classes you want to attend, sessions run for 6-8 weeks. Specialty workshops will run for 4 weeks. Level I sessions will be 50 minutes long, all other levels and specialty classes will be 70 minutes long. In addition to your sessions classes, each session you sign up for will come with 2 casual class credits as well. These class credits must be used during the session and cannot be rolled over. Unlimited open studio is included in all sessions.

What if I can't make it to all my classes?

You are entitled to 2 make up classes per session, your make up classes can be at another class of the same level (if there is one), or as a casual class. Please let your session instructor know when you will be making up your class and they will schedule you in to the class.

How do I sign up for sessions?

In mindbody there is a sessions section, add the classes you would like to your cart and check out. Your casual classes will appear on your account within 48hrs of signing up for a session. Sign up online here: https://bit.ly/2BYGe13

I'm taking sessions that are different prices, do I have to pay full price on these?

No, discounts are based on the total number of sessions you are taking, it does not matter what they are. For example, if you took Level I, Spin Pole:Level I & Exotic, you would pay one session at session I pricing, one at session II pricing and one at session III pricing.

I want to take a couple sessions, but I can't afford to pay for them all up front. Do you have a payment plan option?

Yes! Sessions can be broken up into two payments, the second payment due at the 4 week mark. If you would like to do this, please send us an email.

I can't commit to a session, do you have any classes for me?

Yes! We still offer casual or drop-in classes. See our casuals schedule for all available drop in classes.
